Greets All, Here's the main events for the next couple of months. The closest is going to be the Hanes Park Classic (Winston-Salen/Crit) on 3 Aug and if we're going to have a red, white, & blue C4R surge event for the near future, this ought to be it.
Upcoming Races July-Aug):
Piedmont Triad Omnium, 11-13 July, Thomasville & Lexington; Overview- There are Crits on Friday evening, and the road races start early Saturday for the 4s and 5s (0800/0805). The Time Trials on Sunday starts at 0800. There are some Days Inn options in Thomasville and High Point, but the best pick looks like the Microtel Inn & Suites http://www.hotelthomasville.com/index.asp , which offers a cycling event discount, free breakfasts, and suites offer the cook at home option. French Broad Cycling Classic, 18-20 July, Marshall, Brevard, and Asheville, NC; A three race Omnium cosisting of a TT on Friday (1700 start) and crits in Brevard and Asheville running from 0800-1715. THe area is about a 4.5 hour drive from Fayetteville and Brevard is right near the great Irish Pub (Hendersonville) we descended upon during the NC CX Grand Prix last Fall. Lots of lodging options, staying around Hendersonville/Brevard is much cheaper than Asheville, although if you go the big city route, the downtown Days Inn in Asheville is a bargain for that area. NOTE- you must pre-reg for the TT, no Day-of regs for that event. Also, be wary of transit delays due to I-40 construction. The Mill House Lodge in Flat Rock is a sponsoring Hotel http://www.millhouselodge.com/default.aspx

Carolinas Cycling Classic, a Nine race series throughout central-western NC from 25 July through 3 August, web site: http://www.crossroadscyclingclassic.com/ (with partner hotel links) Since we tend to be weekend warriors, I'll focus on the weekend events- Lenoir and Morganton, on July 26th and 27 are close by and could make a good double-header if desired, lots of lodging options and probably about a 3.5 hour drive from the west end of Fayetteville. The next weekend is a little more spread out, and if we surge I would suggest the Hanes Park Classic on Sunday 3 August. It is a great location in Winston-Salem and Daniel and Justin raced it last year. It seemed like about a 3.25 hour trip from western Fayetteville last year.
