The Dewey Hughes Memorial Ride is a challenging one beginning at Marion's YMCA traveling through rolling farmlands, up Stone Mountain, around Lake Lure, through Chimney Rock and returning to Marion for a total of 67 miles. Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 5, 2012. It’s an unforgettable event that will help Mountain Valley Hospice raise money to benefit our patients and families. This year, we are introducing a Kid’s Fun Run as well as a team registration option.
There are two variants to this route, one being 100 miles and the other being 92 miles. The only difference between the two is that the 100 mile ride includes a climb to the top of Pilot
Mountain and the 92 mile ride does not. This route will take cyclists through downtown Mt. Airy past several establishments referenced on The Andy Griffith Show. After leaving Mt. Airy, riders will continue on to scenic Pilot Mountain. The route offers excellent views of the mountain.
Riders on the Tour de Mayberry will have the opportunity to cycle to the top of Pilot Mountain. This side trek features a ride to the upper parking lot at the top of the mountain. The average grade is 10%. This adds an additional 8 miles to the overall distance of this ride.

Saturday, May 5th, 2012 The 2012 Tour de Wish is a challenging 33/50/100 mile course, starting at Tyrrell Hall (906 E Highway 64, Columbia, NC 27925) and winding through scenic Tyrrell County. The route is fun and rewarding and designed with your safety in mind. Ride staff will be positioned all along the route at rest areas and along the course to help out in any way. We’ll have refreshments at the finish line, and all entrants will get free admission to the WISHFEST music festival. The ride starts at 8AM for bicyclists. Please arrive 30 minutes before start time for “day of” registrations. Bicyclists may depart any time between 8AM and 9AM. Proceeds from the ride will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina.

This is a very safe ride, but it is an open course and riders are encouraged to obey all traffic laws.   Lenoir City Police will close all intersections as riders make their way out of the downtown area. Upon returning, the City Police will monitor riders as they travel back downtown. Caldwell County Sheriff's Deputies will monitor the crossing of Hwy 321 north of Lenoir.
For those hoping to win their ride, count on your choice of a homemade cake! Cakes will go to the top three places in the 62 mile, top two places in the 40 mile and 1st place in the 25 mile ride.

The 27th annual Fabulous 4th Metric Century Bicycle Tour in Tryon last July 4, 2010 was a big success.  We received many compliments about the beauty and safety of the ride, the organization of the event, and the great volunteers who helped with the event. There were some glitches concerning food at the water stops but we will be working to correct those issues before the next tour comes around.

The Blue Ridge Brutal features three ride options: 50-mile, 75-mile and 100-mile. The Brutal is fully supported by SAG wagons, rest stops, mussette stops, Ham radio communication and fire and rescue squad. A hot meal, t-shirt and chip timing is included. For a few hardy souls who want to challenge the mountain, the Brutal is offering the “Assault on Mount Jefferson.” This option is available at no extra cost, but due to Mount Jefferson State Park regulations, we can only offer it to twenty-five riders on a first come first basis. All assault riders will be transported down the mountain.
Helmets are mandatory and all traffic regulations must be observed. No personal SAG wagons will be allowed. Blue Ridge Parkway Rangers reserve the right to ask riders to stop if there are safety concerns or issues.

A benefit bicycle ride through the scenic country-side of Alexander County. All proceeds from the 2012 Y-Ride will go towards the purchase and installation of new playground equipment for the YMCA of Alexander County. Ride Without Limits is a fully supported two day cycling event that challenges the body and rewards the spirit.  Celebrating its 6th year, Ride Without Limits is one of the signature cycling events in North Carolina.  To support the mission of Easter Seals UCP, the Ride is all about inclusion.  Riders of all levels are invited to join in this amazing event and each rider can choose between a 38 mile, 64 mile or 100 mile route each day.  On Saturday, we will also offer an Ironman distance – 112 miles.  Along the route, fully-stocked rest stops with smiling volunteers are stationed every 12-14 miles. After returning to camp, riders are greeted with an amazing celebration, featuring delicious food and live entertainment.

Brief Description
The Rollin’ Round the River is a bike tour, not a race, with plenty to see and do along the way. The rolling out-and-back route is a snap to follow and, with no extended climbs, it’s flat enough so everyone from novices to hard core racers can have fun. Not sure you can finish the entire route: Ride as far as you want, then turn around!
All proceeds will benefit Millers Creek Christian School. You may visit their website for information on the school. All proceeds will be used to fund scholarships and purchase supplies for the school.

BIKE MS: TOUR TO TANGLEWOOD

Brief Description
The Bike MS: Tour to Tanglewood is a 2-day cycling event that raises funds to support people living with multiple sclerosis in Central North Carolina and throughout the United States. Money raised through this event funds MS research, programs, services, and advocacy. This year, over 2000 cyclists and volunteers will participate in the event raising over $1 million to create a world free of MS.
Starting and finishing at Tanglewood Park, Bike MS cyclists enjoy two full days of riding through the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. At the conclusion of each day's ride, cyclists are greeted by cheerful volunteers, a delicious hot meal, ice cold beverages, and live entertainment.
FUNDRAISING
In addition to the registration fee, each cyclist must raise at least $200 to ride. Your

CYCLE NORTH CAROLINA "MOUNTAIN TO THE COAST" FALL RIDE

Brief Description
Cycle NC is a fully supported bicycle tour of North Carolina that has become one of the most popular cross-state rides in the United States. CNC 2012 will accept up to 1,200 bicyclists and is expected to fill up quickly. CNC is not a race but merely a leisurely trek along scenic back country roads with minimal traffic. It is an opportunity to join other cyclists on an educational, social and recreational tour of North Carolina. Temporary campsites, both indoor and outdoor, will be available each night. Evening entertainment options range from live bands, beverage gardens, downtown street celebrations outdoor movies and much more. Come join 1,200 other cyclists as they travel over 400 miles from the "Mountains to the Coast"! Check-in day is Saturday, September 29 with the ride officially beginning on Sunday, September 30.

This is a one day bike tour of eastern Rockingham and western Caswell counties presented by First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville to benefit outreach programs of FPC, many of which are local missions.
Take a leisurely ride by grand old mansions, vineyards, and open air markets. Experience the rural beauty of fall colors and take in the smells and sounds on the quiet back roads.
You will have three choices in ride distance with 20, 40, and 60 mile rides.  The ride is fully supported with sag, rest stops, and lunch.  Lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. until all riders are fed.  All pre-registered riders will receive a tee shirt and will be entered to win door prizes to be presented at lunch.  All pre-registration will be by mail.

The 14th annual Tour de Leaves, which is one of the area's most scenic bicycle rides, begins at the Harmon Field log cabin.
